General Announcements

Monday, August 21, will be a SKILLS day. Students were given copies of the SKILLS day assignment sheet in sixth period. Please complete at least TWO assignments and return the sheet to your homeroom teacher on Tuesday, August 22. Failure to do so will result in being marked absent from school on August 21.

Friday 8/25 – Review time for quiz. Bell ringer/vocabulary QUIZ. Grammar QUIZ (note: if necessary, this may be pushed to Monday. We will see how things go Tuesday-Thursday).

Tuesday 8/22 – Bell ringer (grammar). Complete Close Reader worksheet for “The Wife’s Story”.

Wednesday 8/23 – Bell ringer (idioms). Slideshow (notes over Mood & Tone). Read “The Lottery”, answer questions.

Thursday 8/24 – Bell ringer (allusions). Review for vocabulary quiz. Introduction to dialectical journaling, dialectical journal of “The Lottery”.

Friday 8/25 – Time to review for vocabulary quiz; vocabulary quiz. Sample plot diagram. Read “The Necklace”.

Supply list for BOTH English classes:

  1. One two-pocket folder
  2. A  three-ring binder, no smaller than one inch *I recommend 1 1/2 to 2 inches
  3. One set of section dividers for three ring binder
  4. Multi-pack of highlighters (at least four different colors—preferably five)
  5. Pens, pencils, & notebook paper
  6. Colored Pencils
