Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! This will be a short but busy week. Here’s an overview of what’s in this e-mail:

Bell Schedule & Overview of the First Day

Our first day back to school is different than all others. Here’s what you need to know for that day. Report to the classes on your schedule. If you have an empty on your schedule, report to the guidance office that class period. If you wish to make a change in your schedule, you must pick up a schedule change form outside the guidance office and go to your currently scheduled class. A counselor will call you when the change has been made.

7:50 – 8:10 – Advisory
8:15 – 8:40 – 1st Period
8:45 – 9:10 – 2nd Period
9:15 – 9:40 – 3rd Period
9:45 – 10:10 – 5th period
10:45 – 12:10 – 4th period – We eat third lunch

Breakout sessions begin at 12:15. There are four rotations, and then we will transition to a pep rally at 2:20.

Pre-AP Agenda

  • Wednesday – first day activities (schoolwide session)
  • Thursday – roll call, review syllabus, review novel list, discussion of novel (Quizlet)
  • Friday – roll call, discussion of novel/study guide

Please have supplies available ASAP. Our novel test will be August 15.

Regular Agenda

  • Wednesday – first day activities (schoolwide session)
  • Thursday – roll call, review syllabus and procedures, getting to know you activities
  • Friday – roll call, mind map

Google Classroom will be utilized heavily this year. Parents who wish to receive view-only rights may e-mail me. Students will use the following join codes to sign up at http://classroom.google.com:

Supply list for BOTH English classes:

  1. One two-pocket folder
  2. A  three-ring binder, no smaller than one inch *I recommend 1 1/2 to 2 inches
  3. One set of section dividers for three ring binder
  4. Multi-pack of highlighters (at least four different colors—preferably five)
  5. Pens, pencils, & notebook paper
  6. Colored Pencils
