Second Trimester Project

On Wednesday, students will be introduced to the second trimester project. Here’s an advance overview of the project options that will be discussed tomorrow.

You may choose from the project options listed below. You will only do ONE project. Your project may be turned in as soon as you complete it. You must turn it in one week before the close of the second trimester. Unless we have snow days, that means your project will be due on or before February 13.

ALL PROJECTS ARE WORTH 200 POINTS IN THE TEST/PROJECT CATEGORY.

You may choose to work with other students (even students from other classes), but choose wisely. Your project is still due on time even if someone else in your group does not participate at the last minute. Once you have selected your project, you will receive a rubric detailing the scoring options.

OPTION 1: VIDEO

Required performance element. Create a 5 – 10 minute video portraying a FULL SCENE or a FULL SYNOPSIS of a work we have studied this year. You must memorize your lines.

OPTION 2: ARTWORK

Create an artwork representing a scene or character from a work we have studied this year. The format is optional (for example, painting, charcoal sketch, sculpture) but I will warn you, do not attempt this option if you do not have artistic ability.

OPTION 3: BOOK REVIEW

Write a critic’s review of a work we have studied this year. Your critique should be a minimum of three double-spaced typed pages.

OPTION 4: MUSIC/POETRY

Required performance element. Write a song or poem evoking a work we have studied this year. Your song must either be performed in class or recorded for playback. If you do a poem, your poem must fit one of several prescribed formats (sorry, no haiku).

OPTION 5: SCRAPBOOK

Create a scrapbook of memorable moments from a work we have studied this year.  You may either illustrate the scrapbook or use photos from the Internet and other sources.

OPTION 6: ALTERNATE UNIVERSE

Sometimes, you really wish things had gone differently in a work. Write an alternate beginning or ending to a work we have studied that makes things all end the way you’d hoped. Minimum of three double-spaced pages.
