Visions of Sugarplums…

As we approach the holiday season each year, I am filled with a surge of emotion as I think of all of the blessings that have been heaped upon me in the passing months. 2016 has been a particularly wonderful year for our family, but also for me personally, as I am finally able to mark off an item that’s been on my bucket list since the age of, oh, four.

I am so excited to be near the final stages of preparation for the release of my first novel, Don’t Ask Me to Leave. This project has been in development for a long time, so seeing it come to fruition is an amazing experience.

The seed for the novel was planted all the way back in July 2002, when my husband and I first stood, hand-in-hand, in front of a congregation filled with family and friends and uttered the words that Ruth spoke to Naomi. We take our marital vows very seriously, and they are precious words to me.

In 2011, when I was contemplating a topic for NaNoWriMo (November is National Novel Writing Month), I wondered what it would be like if Ruth lived in today’s time. Would she still say the same words to Naomi? What would happen? From that line of thought, Don’t Ask Me to Leave was born.

I wrote the novel and “won” NaNoWriMo…and then promptly shelved the project, not to return to it for four long years. I’m not sure what made me decide to dig out the binder, but I’m so happy that I did.

Over the next few months, I’ll be releasing teasers here and there leading up to the release of the novel. I’m excited to have you along on the journey.
