I am thrilled to announce that Don’t Ask Me to Leave has been offered a contract by Mantle Rock Publishing! This is an incredible opportunity for me. Seeing something I wrote in print has always been on my bucket list, and while I have come close, with a poem published in the Herald-Leader and an article in Christian Woman magazine, this is truly the fulfillment of that childhood desire.
When my husband and I married in 2002, we used Ruth’s words to Naomi as our wedding vows. They are words that I have carried on my heart every day.
At some point, I began to wonder what it would be like for Ruth and Naomi in today’s world. Out of that idea, Don’t Ask Me to Leave emerged. I completed the original manuscript in 2012 for National Novel Writing Month (www.nanowrimo.org) and then set it aside.
Several months ago, I dug it back out of my digital filing cabinet and blew off the dust for some revisions, and I’m so glad I did.
This is an exciting process, and I’m glad to be walking this road with the staff of Mantle Rock. I will post more information as I have it. Thank you to everyone for their support and encouragement!
